A Book of Hours for the End of Time

A Book of Hours for the End of Time is a multimedia artistic project that expands upon my examinations of metamorphosis and memory through a deep dive into the personal nature of time. The project will continue my unique weaving of poetry, prose, essays, and various performance and installation elements. A Book of Hours for the End of Time is inspired by personal introspection, research into the effects of subjective experiences on our perception of time, cultural temporal practices I have inherited from my ancestors, and the tradition of monastic books of hours.

PROCESS

The duration of writing sessions will be determined by methods outside of “clock time,” such as the time it takes to brew a cup of tea, play a game of chess, consume a meal with friends, journey on a train ride, etc. The format of the final publication will be inspired by the monastic book of hours tradition. Community engagement plays a pivotal role, with prompts sparking collaborative sessions that inform the poetry, prose, and essays.

OUTCOME

A series of prompts on profound personal experiences will be opened to the public and selected cohorts. The artist will then host a live writing session and improv performance, partially guided by the audience input gathered from the prompts. This interactive experience aims to enrich the communal exploration of temporal perspectives. After the development phase concludes, the refined collection will be canonized in print and eBook formats, solidifying its place within the folds of time.
